Working towards feelings of togetherness, support and intimacy.

Couples Therapy

Couples counseling provides an opportunity to be heard. Couples can come into counseling for a variety of reasons including infidelity, communication issues, wanting a tune up or just wanting to check in concerning the overall relationship. Couples counseling allows for positive growth for the individuals involved by working on developing positive communication skills to improve connection and a sense of well being with each other.

Dr. John Lloyd’s approach is to be warm and inviting to the couples to create a safe space for expression. By focusing on specific issues at the onset, the couples can experience early positive results which can lead to a long lasting experience. Dr. Lloyd emphasizes the important of communication which leads into (re)developing trust and passion in the relationship. Dr. Lloyd is also a PREPARE/ENRICH certified counselor. PREPARE/ENRICH is an optional resource that provides information to help couples identify the areas in their lives that need the most improvement as well as recognize the strengths that already exist. This tool can provide focus on those problem areas while highlighting and enriching the strengths that compliment the couple.

Seeking out help

One of the most difficult things to do is to ask for help, especially when it comes to mental health. Seeking out counseling can feel like a sign of weakness, when in reality it takes a great deal of strength. For many people, the idea of opening up to a stranger about their innermost thoughts and feelings is simply too daunting. Others may worry that they will be judged or that their problems will seem insignificant. Still others may believe that counseling is only for people with serious mental health issues. The truth is, counseling can be beneficial for anyone who wants to improve their mental well-being or create healthier relationships. By talking openly and honestly about our challenges, we can gain insights, develop new perspectives, and learn more about ourselves. If you are considering counseling but are unsure if it is right for you, remember that there is no shame in seeking out help. Everyone deserves to live a happy and healthy life.
